Platform Database Engineer

Then join our team and become our new Platform Database Engineer 

We are looking for a profile who will be part of a global team responsible for building, configuring, and maintaining Danske Bank’s mainframe database systems. Our primary design goals are service availability, efficiency, and resilience, underpinned by the architectural principle of cloned infrastructure, system configurations and applications. The position is in Denmark, Copenhagen central or Århus. 
 

The role

• Perform database maintenance tasks, software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support our database environments and database tooling.
• Establish, maintain, and implement policies and procedures pertaining to database management, disaster recovery, security, maintenance, compliance, and utilization.
• Investigate new database functionality to explore and exploit new opportunities.
• Collect and analyze data to ensure optimal performance of the system.
• Be proactive in problem diagnostics and resolution and to challenge the existing where improvements could make sense. 
• Encourage and ensure collaboration across teams and vendors to provide guidance and manage different tasks with a “can-do” attitude. 
• Interact with vendors to troubleshoot and drive enhancements to product in our portfolio.
• Proactively help control risk and compliance and lead by example.

We would like to see the following core skills:

• Have some experience of installing, maintaining, and supporting database systems and related software products.
• Feel comfortable working with critical data on several platforms.
• Strong analytical mind and a determination to help drive/facilitate complex problems to resolution.
• Experience with design, configuration, and support of systems in an environment running mission critical 24*7*365 workload.
• Experience working with Public Cloud.
• Have an open mind and an inherent curiosity that can be a constant drive in your professional development.

Additional preferred skills

• Degree related to Computer Science or IT
• Equivalent education with required experience
