Software Engineer - Cloud Archive
Join our Cloud Archive squad to build a greenfield solution that will replace Danske Bank's decades-old mainframe archive holding 44 billion documents. You will contribute to a system serving hundreds of millions of requests yearly while growing as an engineer working with event-driven architecture and distributed microservices at scale.
What you will be doing
You will become part of a small, growing team of software engineers building a modern archive solution that performs at scale whilst ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Working alongside experienced engineers in Aarhus, you will contribute to critical banking infrastructure that serves millions of customers and colleagues across the bank.
Build and improve Java services and APIs for document storage and retrieval
Write clean, tested and maintainable code with regular code reviews
Enhance reliability through logging, monitoring, alerting and performance testing
Work with AWS-based services and infrastructure under guidance from experienced engineers
Collaborate with the Product Owner to understand requirements and deliver stable solutions
Learn the archive domain gradually whilst taking increasing ownership of components
About you
Solid foundation in Java development with focus on clean, maintainable code
Familiarity with cloud concepts, preferably AWS but Azure or GCP also acceptable
Good understanding of REST APIs and service-to-service integration patterns
Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipeline concepts
Willingness to work in regulated environments prioritizing security and compliance
Collaborative mindset that values team success over individual achievements
Fluent in Danish for effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders
Knowledge of domain-driven design, event-driven patterns, high-volume systems, or financial services experience would be valuable additions to bring to the role.
What we offer you
You will join an autonomous squad with end-to-end ownership of cloud solutions, working with current technology including GitHub Copilot and AWS Services. We offer comprehensive benefits including high pension, health insurance, and 7 weeks holiday. Our hybrid work model allows 1-2 days working from home per week, and you will be based in our Aarhus office at Jægergårdsgade 101b with good transport connections and employer-paid parking.
